Library Instruction Sessions
The librarians at Stevenson are committed to providing library instruction that promotes information literacy and supports the Stevenson curriculum. Faculty can request a library instruction session to be tailored to the needs of a specific class. These sessions can cover a wide variety of topics and can provide hands-on student work time as appropriate. In some cases, a librarian may create a subject-specific Library Research Guide for a class to point students to resources within the Library, as well as to appropriate Web sites.

To arrange library instruction for your classes, contact Virginia Polley at vpolley@stevenson.edu or 443-334-2688 or fill out and return the Library Instruction form. We ask that you schedule classes for a time when your students are working on a research topic or assignment so that we can better address their individual research needs.
It may help you in planning for library instruction to know that all students who have completed both Freshman Seminar and English 151 or 171H should have had a tour of the library, as well as a basic understanding of searching for articles in the Library’s periodical databases and searching for books in the Library Catalog. Discipline-specific resources and advanced searching are not covered in these introductory sessions.
