General Information
The Library, located in the Learning Resources Center (view map), is a vital part of Stevenson University life. The Library staff is committed to assisting students and faculty with their research, teaching and learning needs.
The Library provides access to online data sources, carefully selected to meet the needs of the curriculum. These include more than 40 databases providing scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, e-books and reference resources.
Knowledgeable Library staff are prepared to provide assistance with these resources, as well as to help with Internet search engines. See the Access to Databases link for details on specific subscriptions.
Scope and nature of the collections
The physical collections continue to grow, now approaching 100,000 volumes. Many formats are represented, among them DVD’s, videorecordings, CDs, audiotapes, microfilms, microfiche, CD-ROMs, web-based services, books and periodicals. Library holdings reflect the College curriculum. The library participates in the Maryland Digital Library Project and in the AskUsNow Reference Service with other Maryland libraries. The University Archive is housed in the Library, and a local history collection is under development.
Library catalog and circulation information
Information about all holdings is available in the SHARC Catalog. Full cataloging for all materials is entered into this system as they are acquired, and current circulation information is also available online for every item.
