Gift Policies
Gifts are always appreciated by the Library. Acceptance of materials is made under the following conditions:
- All materials become the property of the Stevenson University Library. Acceptance of materials is made with the understanding that there are no limiting conditions or restrictions regarding their usage. The Library reserves the right to exchange, donate, sell or discard the items as needed if they are not deemed appropriate for the Collection.
- Acceptance or rejection of gifts is based on the same criteria as purchased materials. The primary purpose of purchased materials is to support the teaching mission of the University.
- The Library does not accept donations of textbooks, single issues of magazines, or pamphlet material.
- Generally speaking, the Library cannot accept duplicates of items it already owns due to space limitations.
- An appropriate acknowledgement of all gifts added to the collection is made on behalf of the University. The Library cannot offer collection appraisals, nor estimate the value of a gift. The Library assumes no responsibility for the use donors make of such acknowledgement.
If you have reviewed the Gift Policy and wish to make a donation, please contact the Director of Library Services at either mbeck@stevenson.edu or 443-334-2231 or the Collection Development Librarian at srouzer@stevenson.edu or 443-334-2346.
