Circulation:

In order to check out materials, a vjOne card with a barcode is needed. To obtain an ID, click here for scheduling and information.

  • Books circulate to students for 28 days and to faculty and staff for 120 days.
  • A maximum of 8 books at a time may be checked out from the Children’s Collection.
  • A total of two audio-visual items (DVDs, videos, CDs) may be checked out at a time for a loan period of 7 days.
  • To renew materials, you may contact the Circulation Desk at 443-334-2233 or if you prefer to renew online, click here and enter your vjOneCard number and last name. Under “Charged Items”, check the boxes of the items you wish to renew, select “Renew checked items” and then click the “Renew Items” button.
  • If you wish to have an item held, ask at the Circulation Desk or call 443-334-2233.
  • Students enrolled at local area colleges and universities that participate in the MICUA or BALC Consortiums may check out books with their college ID.
  • Stevenson alums may check out up to 5 books for a non-renewable period of 28 days. They may not borrow videotapes, DVDs or other materials and do not have remote access to the electronic databases.
  • As a member of the Maryland Interlibrary Consortium (MIC) Stevenson students, faculty and staff have borrowing privileges at member libraries. Each MIC library sets its own circulation policies.

Failure to return books on time can result in suspension of library privileges until the matter is resolved.

Reserves:

All print, audio or video reserve items instructors have left at the library are shelved behind the Library Circulation Desk. These materials must be used in the Library unless the faculty member requests that they circulate to his or her students for a limited period (usually overnight). Electronic reserves are accessed from the library’s home page. Faculty can find further information about reserves here.

Interlibrary Loan:

A student may request up to three items through Interlibrary Loan. We ask that you check before requesting materials, however, to see if they are available in another library convenient for you to access. Please submit complete bibliographic information on each book or article to expedite the process. As a general rule, it takes about 1 -2 weeks to receive materials from another library.

Overdue Fines:

Circulating materials: $ .20 per item per day with a maximum of $10.00 per item.
Overnight Reserve materials: $1.00 per item per day with a maximum of $10.00 per item.
The charge for lost materials is the actual cost of the item plus a $25.00 processing fee.

When an item is declared lost, the library will charge the borrower the replacement cost of the item, a processing fee of $25.00 and the maximum fine of $10.00. In addition, the borrower will be flagged at the Registrar’s Office and will not be able to register for classes or obtain a transcript or diploma until the account is cleared.
