Journal Locator Help

Full-Text Journal Locator

What does it do?

The Full-Text Journal Locator lets you know if:

  • The SU Library owns a print subscription to a particular periodical.
  • The SU Library owns a microfiche or microfilm subscription to a particular periodical.
  • The SU Library has an e-journal subscription to a particular periodical.
  • Any of the library’s research databases offers full text coverage of a particular periodical.
  • You will need to consider another means of accessing an article, such as through Interlibrary Loan or by visiting another library.
When do I use it?
Anytime you need to find the full text of an article (complete article) when you only have a bibliographic citation or an abstract of an article.
  • A citation generally includes the author and title of the article, the name of the journal, magazine or newspaper in which the article appeared and the date of publication.
  • Here is an example of a bibliographic citation. Note the title of the journal is shown in boldface type:
Felson, R. B., Ackerman, J., & Yeon, S. J. (2003). The infrequency of family violence. Journal of Marriage and Family, 65, 622-634.

How do I use it?

  • Use the “Search for Titles” to search for a specific journal.
  • Select the appropriate Search Type option.
  • Using the example from the citation shown above, enter Journal of Marriage and Family.

This is what you should see:
